Preparing For The Holidays In Second Life

Preparing for the Holidays in Second Life for me does NOT mean that I am decorating my virtual land or that I am making Christmas cards. It simply means that this girl is sorting through her inventory to come up with some mixed and matched pieces to make killer Holiday outfits. Here are a few that I have come up with so far
All of these designs can be found at Myth in Second Life

How Twitter can Help Your Second Life Business

I have been watching and testing some things on Twitter the past few days. I know there are thousands of Second Lifers that use Twitter each and every day. I know that they converse with other Second Lifers and many of them in one way or another are Second Life Merchants.
Did you know that you can use Twitter to monitor your Second Life brand?
Did you know you can ALSO use Twitter to drive business to your Second Life business?
How?
Well I will let you in on a little secret that isn't all that secret and isn't all that little.
Follow KEYWORDS!
Yes Keywords!
I posted this yesterday
The first Tweet highlighted says:
"Looking for a good quality winter coat in Second Life... Anyone?"
and the second one says:
"I am scoping out Xstreet for a sweet pair of boots #SecondLife"

Guess what happened when I posted those Tweets....NOTHING!
No one sent me an @reply for the SLURL to their shop or the URL to their product on XStreet.
You guys are SLEEPING!
Wake up and grab a hold of what is in front of you.
I use TweetDeck and follow the keywords "Second Life"
I have met new people, found new events, but unfortunately did not get any help finding either item.

All it takes is time!

Linden Labs To Close Second Life Mentors Group

I was shocked to learn today that the Second Life Mentors Group is officially closing on December 11, 2009. I have personally been mentoring in Second Life since 2007 and have enjoyed helping so many new people joining the Virtual World we have all come to know and love. We have helped many people find lost items, learn how to fly and heck even just get off of one of the Help Islands that Newbies all too often get stuck on.

I can't help but wonder why Linden Labs is choosing to close down a group that is basically working for them for FREE minus the title and Linden last name that is. Are they doing it to downsize and cut corners on Linden Lab employees? Will Lexie Linden be losing her job now? So many questions yet not many answers. They say they are moving everything pretty much over to the Second Life Questions site that has been in beta for a while now. That sounds great, but what about those people that don't know about the site? What about those that don't have computers good enough to run both the Second Life client and a browser?
I am honestly confused about the motive behind this, but I would like to let all of my Mentoring buddies know that no matter what Linden Labs decides to cut, they CAN'T stop any of us from doing what we love and do so well and that is to help others!
Be the bigger person here and let's show them that we do not need a Linden run group to help people that need it.
With Social Media, Social Networking and so many other awesome outlets, we will be able to help those that need it!
I am proud to say that I WAS a Second Life Mentor and am now a Mentor to those that need help in their Second Life.

Second Life Never Fails To Amaze Me!

So today after I finished doing some email campaigns and phone calls for CaribPOP.biz, I went to log into Second Life. The first time I logged in I received a message saying "Failure to find body part, body part replaced". I thought that was very odd. I looked in my inventory and sure enough although my eyes were in there, Second Life had replaced my eyes with "New Eyes". Interesting I thought. I could not replace them and now mysterious New Eyes were in my inventory that I could not get rid of. I re-logged and all was normal. No new eyes in my inventory, my old eyes were on and everything was perfect........Perfect until I changed my hair and CRASHED! Yeah I crashed, darn hair lol. When I went to log back in I received this beautiful login page yet again.

Now I am no stranger to this login screen. I get it often these days as if it is a test of my loyalty to Second Life. However today I was having many issues. Crashing here and there and then logging in to being a noob or a cloud or having noob hair. You know all of those things that can really annoy an avatar. So I was on my crashing spree and relogging when the Second Life login screen amazed me. Yes Second Life outdid itself this time. Check out this new image. How can I be mad, it is too funny!

Six More Weeks Of Winter!?!?

Ok so the groundhog saw his shadow today, but did you know that if he sees his shadow there are six more weeks of winter?. Anyways, even I am feeling the winter coldness down here in what is supposed to be sunshiny Florida, so I would like to welcome Mr. Spring at anytime he wishes to emerge from his slumber :-)

Tell Me If I Am Wrong

There are a lot of things in life that I don't agree with. Even more things online that I disagree with all of the time. Not that I am out to argue and be upset over anything, but I have a right to my own opinion right?
Ok so today (literally 5 minutes ago) I was on my Twitter page and seeing who my new followers, choosing if they were spam or quality and whether to follow back. If you use Twitter I am sure you know what I am talking about. Anyways I had a name in the list that I just could not believe that someone would use. Mind you I am far from the most religious person in this world, but I know for a fact that "Jesus Christ" is NOT using Twitter.
So maybe I am reacting a bit negatively, but seriously? We already have Britney Spears' people doing her Twitter, do we need someone giving us Jesus' updates in 140 characters or less?

President Barack Obama

President Barack Obama's Inauguration Speech

I stand here today humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust you have bestowed, mindful of the sacrifices borne by our ancestors. I thank President Bush for his service to our nation, as well as the generosity and cooperation he has shown throughout this transition.

Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath. The words have been spoken during rising tides of prosperity and the still waters of peace. Yet, every so often the oath is taken amidst gathering clouds and raging storms. At these moments, America has carried on not simply because of the skill or vision of those in high office, but because We the People have remained faithful to the ideals of our forbearers, and true to our founding documents.

So it has been. So it must be with this generation of Americans.

That we are in the midst of crisis is now well understood. Our nation is at war, against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred. Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age. Homes have been lost; jobs shed; businesses shuttered. Our health care is too costly; our schools fail too many; and each day brings further evidence that the ways we use energy strengthen our adversaries and threaten our planet.

These are the indicators of crisis, subject to data and statistics. Less measurable but no less profound is a sapping of confidence across our land — a nagging fear that America's decline is inevitable, and that the next generation must lower its sights.

Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real. They are serious and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this, America — they will be met.

On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord.

On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics.

We remain a young nation, but in the words of Scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things. The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to choose our better history; to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness.

In reaffirming the greatness of our nation, we understand that greatness is never a given. It must be earned. Our journey has never been one of short-cuts or settling for less. It has not been the path for the faint-hearted — for those who prefer leisure over work, or seek only the pleasures of riches and fame. Rather, it has been the risk-takers, the doers, the makers of things — some celebrated but more often men and women obscure in their labor, who have carried us up the long, rugged path towards prosperity and freedom.

Will Second Life Ever Get It Together?

You know many people use Second Life for business, such as myself, and it is nearly impossible lately to even be able to carry out anything remotely business-like due to the constant teleport, rezzing, money and login issues that are happening. Today as I tried forever to log onto SL I was almost ready to call it quits when *POOF* this questionaire popped up on my login screen.

Are they serious? Do they really want an answer from me today? I don't think so. With all of the problems that the grid has been experiencing it has been a nightmare to get on and conduct business in any sort of a normal way this weekend. Oh well... That is my ranting for the day. Anyone else have anything they wish to rant about here?
